London, Moscow- As Iranian officials continue to claim that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) role in Syria is restricted within the limit of an advisory role, Colonel Mohammad Pakpor has said that his military troops are defending the Iranian administrative ideology in both Syria and Iraq.

Pakpor went on defending the ground troops and Quds forces’ intervention in the Syrian civil war. IRGC troops are fighting in Syria for what they believe is a response to the violations of sectarian convictions, Pakpor said.

Colonel Pakpor had made his statements at a funeral service held for the dead troops of Saberin IRGC special force unit. Saberin IRGC units were involved in high-note missions inside Iran, until it was recently discovered that they are enmeshed in the Syrian war, proven by the death of its two notorious leaders Colonel Hamid Mokhtarband and Colonel Farshad Hassounizadeh, amid last October.

Russian authorities, on Feb.18, officially announced the difficulty of providing Iran with the S-300 (Russian long range surface-to-air missile). The statement was made after Iranian Minister of Defense Hossein Dehghan’s visit to Moscow, meeting senior officials to close-on the missile deal.

Russian Presidential Press Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that Moscow cannot set a clear-cut delivery date timeline for the missile system arriving to Iran. It is still early to talk about a delivery date because of payment complications, Peskov explained.
.
Controversially, Russian news agency had broadcasted on Wednesday that General Mustafa Yazdi, the assistant chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, confirmed the first set of S300 missiles is supposed to be sent to Iran on Feb.18. Iranian Minister of Defense Dehghan is currently present in Russia in an official visit in which he will be attending an official behind-the-curtains gala, held in Astrakhan city, on the occasion of sending the first batch of missiles to Iran. The shipment will take route through the Caspian Sea, Yazdi claimed.
