Riyadh – A high ranking Yemeni official described Houthis activity on the Saudi borders as provocative and blackmailing.

According to Yemeni Presidential Advisor Abdul Aziz Muflahi, Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and Lt. Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar’s visit to Maerib sends a strong message to the Houthis.

Muflahi hoped that the insurgents would comply with the Resolution 2216 without any condition. He added, “Military termination will only stop if Resolution 2216 is fully applied.”

In response to a question regarding Houthis’ presence on the Saudi borders, Presidential advisor stressed that Saudi Arabia is a powerful country leading the coalition, but it will make them pay the price in case they thought of crossing its borders.

Muflahi said that the president blamed the U.N. for abandoning the essence of Resolution 2216 through suggesting a national unity government, joint economic committee, and a joint military committee which somehow makes the insurgents legitimate.

Yemeni political analyst Faisal al-Awadi pointed out that all ideas indicate that Sanaa will soon be liberated.

He told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that the message sent by president was loud and clear when he said he won’t allow a Persian state on Yemeni soil. President ensured the people of Sanaa that liberation is close.

Awadi said that reinforcements from coalition forces and President Hadi and his Vice’s arrival are good indications.

He also mentioned the statement of Chief of Staff Lt. al-Makdishi during which he said that opposition is on the outskirts of Sanaa and is planning on liberating al-Jawf and head towards Saada.

Awadi added that for the first time, the President warned the U.N. and declared that the legitimacy won’t allow any bypassing of Resolution 2216.

He added that previous experience with the former U.N. delegate Jamal bin Omar led to destruction and chaos.

Finally, Awadi said that the statement of President Hadi represents the convictions of the Yemeni people that reject any insurgency attempt linked to Iran against Yemen and the Islamic and Arabic nation.
