Riyadh- Saudi Forces succeeded on Monday to foil an infiltration operation across its southern borders with Yemen.

Forces from the border guard with the help of land forces were capable to stop armed infiltrators from crossing the Saudi borders in the Najran region, General Mansour Al-Turki, a security spokesman at the Saudi Interior Ministry told Asharq Al-Awsat.

Al-Turki said Saudi Arabia did not allow the infiltrators to cross its borders and that the operation took place on the Saudi-Yemeni borders.

“The operation lasted for more than 8 hours,” al-Turki said, adding that five Saudi border guards were killed while big losses were registered in the ranks of infiltrators before Saudi forces defeated them.

The security spokesman said that at 6a.m. on Monday, border guards patrols at Al-Thar border post had detected an armed group trying to infiltrate across the Saudi borders from different directions at the Khabash sector in the Najran region.

Al-Turki said that the infiltrators were immediately confronted by the border guards who exchanged fire with them.

According to Al-Turki, the five Saudi guards killed yesterday are: Lance Corporal Sulaiman bin Saeed bin Sulaiman Al-Maeedi; Lance Corporal Musa bin Zain bin Mohammed Al-Marhabi; Lance Corporal Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Hasan Shraheeli; Lance Corporal Marzooq bin Saeed bin Ali Al-Salloum and Lance Corporal Jaber bin Ali bin Hussein Al-Alawe.
