Riyadh-As part of its Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia has adopted three international indexes, which will contribute to the decision-making process and guidance policies to the kingdom’s young generation.

The King Salman Youth Center has announced the inking of an agreement with the United Nation Development Program (UNDP) to implement the “National Indexes of Youth” project aiming at building three international indexes in the youth domain and at preparing a study on the young generation in the Kingdom based on these indexes’ data.

According to Hani al-Moqbel, executive chairman of the King Salman Youth Center, this project comes as part of the centre’s participation in the Saudi Vision 2030, which largely depends on the young generation to build a vital community, prosperous economy, and an ambitious nation especially that 50 percent of the Kingdom’s population is from this category.

The Executive Chairman told Asharq Al-Awsat that all government entities and different authorities that contribute to fulfilling the Kingdom’s vision will be allowed to access these indexes.

Moqbel continued that the project is just a start and that the center will make more and more efforts to promote the future of young Saudis.

King Salman Center will handle the project’s management, and the UNDP will work on securing the project’s outputs and their conformity with the official international standards, while one of the specialized global companies will be assigned to implement the one-year project.

Moqbel points that the “National Indexes of Youth” will support the center’s role in the Kingdom’s transformation toward the economy of knowledge through the adopted indexes that will direct the youth’s decisions.

Dr. Ashok Nigam, U.N. Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, said that this agreement has been the culmination of fruitful talks between the UNDP and the center and that it always encourages initiatives that aim at offering opportunities for young people.

The “National Indexes of Youth” project comes to follow a series of workshops, initiatives, and accumulative expertise gained by the center through its direct contact with the youth sector in the Kingdom.

The agreement with the UNDP is expected to represent a base to launch many trends that will serve different sides in Saudi Arabia, due to its tight link with the Saudi Vision 2030.

The agreement will also provide an excess of information concerning youth especially that the Kingdom has dedicated a big share of its reform process to this generation, which will lead the country’s development path.
