Dammam-Unidentified gunmen killed two on-duty Saudi policemen in Dammam’s Al-Khudariya district on Saturday before escaping.

“The two officers were patrolling in a police vehicle when they came under fire; Chief Sergeant Musa Alqbi and Soldier Nawaf Al-Otaibi were killed in this attack,” declared Saudi Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki in a statement.

Turki added that investigations were launched and suspects are being pursued to be referred to the court.

During a phone call, the interior ministry spokesman told Asharq al-Awsat that the crime had a terrorist motive and that the ongoing probe will disclose the perpetrators of this terrorist attack.

Witnesses said that a vehicle transporting five individuals opened fire at the patrol and then escaped.

Security authorities have already countered several terrorist operations in the Eastern Province in addition to capturing drug dealers.

The authorities have also arrested terrorist suspects that were coordinating with organizations based abroad.

Al-Khudariya is located on the highway between Dhahran and Jubail, which is an industrial region that includes hundreds of factories and maintenance garages.
