Amman, Asharq Al-Awsat- Jordanian Government spokesman and minister of state for media affairs, Rakan al-Majali, has stated that the visit by Khalid Mishal- chairman of the Hamas movement’s political bureau- to Amman will be in the company of Qatari Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and pointed out that the visit’s date is linked to Sheikh Tamim’s agenda.

Al-Majali added in an answer to a question by Asharq Al-Awsat about the visit which media sources expect it to be made next Friday: “We have not been informed so far of the date of the Qatari heir apparent’s visit and his agenda is full until 15 January.” But the Jordanian minister pointed out that the brothers in Qatar have informed us that the heir apparent might possibly make a quick visit during that period and added that Mishal would meet with the senior officials during his visit to Amman but there were no specific issues for discussion.

In reply to a question about the families of some Hamas leaders who moved to Jordan recently following reports that the relationship between Hamas and Syrian authorities were extremely tense due to the movement’s stance on the Syrian revolution, Al-Majali said he did not have information about this. Press reports had said that Jordan received Mishal’s family and the families of several Hamas leaders who arrived from Damascus to reside in Jordan.
